The Gumpara Vineyard situated in the Light Pass district of the Barossa Valley has been tended by the Mader family for seven generations.
High quality and consistent yields point towards 2021 being another classic vintage for the Barossa Valley. January and February rainfall events led to fresh canopies, while mild weather conditions throughout summer meant that fruit ripening was gradual, providing time for flavours to fully develop.

V I T I C U LT U R E
Elevation: 300mts above sea level, Light Pass district north eastern Barossa Valley.
Soil Type: Sandy loam above terra rossa clay, pink marble and ironstone on limestone base.
Trellis system: Traditional Barossa with applied detailed hand pruning techniques.
Harvest: Fruit sourced from vines planted in 1965 and picked at optimal ripeness, flavour and acidity.
VINIFICATION
Crushed and de-stemmed into open fermenters, with fermentation temperature controlled at 25° C. Must is pumped over twice each day. Free run is removed from skins and the pressings are gently pressed via basket press, with free run and 10% pressings reblended prior to molactic fermentation.
MATURATION
24 months in French and American oak hogsheads.

Colour – Majestic deep red, purple verging to black.
Bouquet – Generous mixed ripe cherry and red stone fruits. Spices of cinnamon, white pepper and vanilla oak.
Palate – Well-structured Shiraz, big and bold displaying mouth-watering flavour, with silky smooth tannins, balanced fruit and lengthy finish.
CELLARING
Drink now or benefit from careful cellaring well into the next decade.
